I used windows from the time I was old enough to use a computer until I was about 17, I now own a Mac running the latest version of OS Mavericks and I absolutely love it. I game, graphic design, edit videos, and record my music with it perfectly fine. The only thing I use my PC laptop for is modding things on Xbox.

The only reason to get a MAC is because it looks good and has a pretty little Apple Logo on it

Other than, they're aweful for the money. For the same price tag you could get an unbelievably good custom built laptop/pc, which performance wise would make a mac look obsolete.

I have had my mac for a little over a year, and its great for all the things you described you would be doing with it, the only thing that you may look over a bit is the price, the pricing is probably the worse part of getting a mac, you could get an equal performance custom pc for a few hundred dollars less, and be able to enjoy all the games you want.

Personally I would look for an equal performance windows pc instead of a mac just because you can save some money.

I wish people would get it in their tiny little brains that there is more to computing than playing video games.

There are some programs that simply run better on Mac.
Not only that, but some might pay the hefty price just for what they feel is a superior OS.

Not to mention that there is some college classes that require you to have a Mac.

INB4: Hackintosh. blah, blah, blah.
Making a Hackintosh isn't as straight forward as you might think.

If you want less compatibility, less features and a clunky OS - feel free to get a Mac.

Well I have no bias towards either mac, or windows, I have both, and like them each for their own reasons. However, on thing that I know for certain, which is indisputable, is the fact that Mac computers, typically, never get "slow" or get a virus. If you decide to go with a mac, startup time, transition, application watching, donloading, streaming, gaming, etc, Will all run much, much smoother, and you will not have to worry about viruses aswell.

But, here's the downside that comes with a mac; very few popular video games available, (triple A games, and steam games) Limited, deep customization (with commands, code and such, but that doesnt really matter, windows useres just like to think that having a nice cmd makes them MLG) And a lot of other forms of games (most indie games) are not payable on an apple device, without an emulater (wich will cause much lag) And if you are interested in developing your own material, your software choicess are limited, and you can mainly only use xCode, and app development software.

Here are the main cons for Windows; Very, and when I say very, I mean Very, prone to viruses. The second you download one damn file on that thing, no matter how good you say your firewall is, say goodbye to your computer. Sure, fresh out of the box, a Windows PC, could be the better choice, but over time (and not much time at that) it will become the slowest functioning thing, you have ever seen in your life. And viruses dont have to do with space, or simply deleting an application on your PC, once a Windows computer has a virus, it's done. However, an Apple computer on the other hand, will last much, much, much longer, this is not a real statistic, but I have had over 11 Windows computers in my time, and comparing that to my Macs, you are more than likely 70% - 90% not to get a virus/slow running on a Mac, than a Windows computer, you can take that to the books.

Pros for Windows: Way, way more games available to play, and buy on any game store, or theme. Much better programming capacity (unless you are using java, in that case, go with mac, it's smoother) I cannot stress that enough, if you are getting your PC just to play games, go with a windows computer, but be sure to get a ton of RAM, otherwise your computer will start to run slow, very, very fast, and as I said, watch out for huge files, and viruses, because once you get a virus on a windows PC, you're done. And don't think "Oh I'll be careful, I won't get a virus" Yes. You will get a virus. No matter how careful you are.

Alos, if you plan on getting your computer for youtube videos, editing, recording, etc. Go with a mac. On screen, and camera recording, and rendering will be vrey HD, and macs come with free rendering, and recording software aswell. As far as editing goes, you can use ANY editing program of your choice, and it will by far, run better on a mac, than any other computer, that one, is a promise.

i have a mac and i have had mine since 2010 for what you will be using it for it will be fine and it can run minecraft fine. Apple products are overpriced but i don't really care i love my iMac and i believe it's better than a PC. The only thing PC is better for is gaming.

yeah Mac book pro are good but they cost a lump.

Everyone has their preferences.
If he hasn't had it long, I can see why he may not like it.
I got mine, and loved it.
Easy to use and is very comfortable imo.
There is so much more than looks too, oh so much more.
Specs wise, granted you may get better specs for a Custom built PC, realise I say Custom. Why?
You buy a prebuilt desktop/laptop you are getting the same as a Mac.
You build yourself, you're getting better things for the same money, that goes for PC and Mac.
If we're sticking to laptop/laptop PC and Mac, the reason Mac is more expensive is not only because the brand itself, though the Mac is quality.
PC is usually plastic, Mac is now Aluminium, the older versions were plastic too.

The war on consoles/computers won't stop. People are too immature to get over the fact they do the same thing.
If you get a computer with crappy specs, you have a crappy computer. If you get a computer with good specs, you have a good computer. Simple as that.
Apple is just like Asus, Samsung etc. The only thing that stands out is the OS. Where as people use Win 7, Win 8 and OSX. It's all the same, just different looks.
Win 7 and 8 have different compatibility, so does OSX.
Every computer is different, and the hate against PC/Mac is stupid, they are the same computers with different brands.
