I bought a Anti-static strap from amazon. and i'm nervous about frying my whole motherboard and any other component's is their any way to? avoid this.

There isn't really anything to be worried about, the wrist strap will stop the static but if you want to make sure hold your case a few times whilst your building to keep yourself grounded.

It's really unlikely for anything to happen. If you're really that paranoid, touch the metal part of your case every minute or so.

It's pretty hard to damage parts by static, you'd have to do it on purpose and anti static wrist bands which are a waste of money and you can just touch your case or a ground object every now and again.

Static buildup is less of a possibility when the relative humidity is high (spring-summer). If you don't go out of you way to build up a charge, you won't have any issues.
Static discharge will destroy transistors in integrated circuits, so be particularly careful when you're handling the CPU.

Basically you've got more chance to damage your computer parts by some other form of discharge, rather then a static one if you get what I mean ;)
