As nobody as this sounds I would start off by editing menus. Find a menu you like and edit it, that way you get to learn about the coding and what goes into making a menu. Once you think you know enough then start making your own. Good program's to use are FFViewer and Notepad++ hope this helps

This is exactly how i learned how to code. so i would recommend doing this

This is where I started off coding and this is how I learnt, first i watched ZZ9 over Skype (Screen sharing)and I asked him loads of questions no matter how silly they was, once i thought i master that i tried to make my own with him watching over and had only couple of errors. Then i made one by my self which i didn't release as it had nothing much in there and then i made soo stoned for waw which loads of people loved.

My advice of learning is watching over people looking at there work and asked loads of question to understand how it worked, if you are whiling to learn i will teach you, i have taught couple of people now and they all making menus of there own.
