I'm stuck between getting an SSD or just a standard HDD, i know that SSDs run alot faster. I'm my mobo is sataII so will the speeds make much of a difference ?

In most cases, SSD performance on SATA II is indistinguishable from SATA III. The benefits are the same even if your board doesn't have the latest SATA revision.

As for whether you want an SSD or HDD, do you want much better speed or do you want low cost per gigabyte?

I'm not sure really at the moment i have a 500gb HDD thats dying So i don't know what to do really. I'm thinking i've got another couple of HDDs kicking around for storage of crap and get a cheap but decent ssd.

Is this going in a laptop with only one drive or a desktop that can have multiple? What's your budget?

Its a desktop. At the moment i don't want to spend more than 100gbp for a HDD whether SSD or not.. As i also want more RAM and Graphics out my bonus this month :-)
