I was upgrading one of my cars when I thought that is was really weird that some of the upgrades do not have effects, which I believe they should.

Here are some of the changes I believe customization options/upgrades should make. I am going to take every variable and make it a number and the maximum 10, which on vehicle specification spreadsheets this is already the case. For example, the speed of the Adder is 8.6 out of a possible 10. Spreadsheet found here [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Engine: Speed. For every level your speed should increase between 0.1 and 0.15

Armor: Weight. There is not a bar in-game for this but some cars are heavier than others. Armor SHOULD increase weight because your car is becoming stronger in defense. This would be good because if you were doing a heist in something such as a Dubsta then you could go through a roadblock with ease if you had armor. Although, I think that for each level of armor, your speed should decrease by 0.2, this would somewhat make it more reasonable to have cars for specific reasons. An adder with full engine and no armor for racing to maximize top speed but a Sandking XL with full armor and full engine to for surviving a drop of Chiliad.

Exhaust: Speed. In real life exhausts add very little horsepower, so a little boost of 0.05 or so to your speed wouldn't hurt.

Wheels: Speed, traction, acceleration, anything. The wheels in the game should be suited for different purposes. I know some look better on other cars but off-road wheels should be able to prove more useful when scaling a mountain and less useful when tearing it through the city. Sports should be better for traction on road, acceleration, braking and general asphalt racing. Others such as low-rider, high-end and so on should have little boosts as well just so the wheel choice on cars have an actual impact. What would be more reasonable is if we could chose tire tread as well as rim style.

Custom Tires: This option is almost pointless right now. You get writing on your tires, on a bike it is only on one side as well. I think that custom tires should increase your braking and traction by a quarter of a bar for a price of around $12500 plus add the writing, makes some sense right?

Lights: Nothing major, it would just make sense if all lights went to Xenon instead of just headlights. For example dipped headlights on the Mesa are Xenon, full-beam are standard.

Suspension: Speed, Acceleration. Kind of makes sense right? Lower to the ground so more aerodynamic, at least with sports cars etc. If a 'high' car - such as a Sandking - is lowered it "technically" should have less stability.

Crew Emblem: Oh my god. Now, this is one of the most irritating things in the world IMO. There should be placement options for this. As simple as that. All you really need is; hood, right door, left door, roof, trunk. Those 5 at the least with the ability to chose all 5 if you wish. There is nothing worse than a minuscule crew emblem on your hood because you have a hood scoop, or worse yet, your crew emblem on ONE of your doors, making it look asymmetrical.

Please do bare in mind that these are some of my personal viewpoints on the vehicle modification options in Grand Theft Auto V. I know this isn't Forza or Gran Turismo but I would like some 'logical' upgrades and more stat changes should be available in LSC. Don't go flaming this because you think these ideas are 'idiotic' or 'illogical', these are just ideas, these most likely will never happen, I just like customization.
