LOL @ all the HF skiddies who were traumatized when their machines got seized. "Im still shaking" seriously? It's not illegal to buy a R.A.T, nor is it illegal to use one. It's what you do with your R.A.T that can get you jail time. What are they going to do to you? "Oh you bought a tool that can cause harm to others, so you're going to jail.. even though you didn't actually infect anyone with it."
That's like calling everyone who owns a gun a murderer because "they COULD kill someone with it." If you actually did use BS and infected people with it then you had it coming. You should know the risks when infecting people, if you got caught I have no sympathy.
EDIT: So they're being charged with "buying and possessing 'hackertools'"? Yeah, that makes sense. Again, putting a label on something that can be used to do something, but wasn't by everyone. So is it no longer legal to remotely control other PCs YOU own on your own network? Is it illegal for employers to keep their employees in line with a tool that will show you their screen and what sites they went on.. on PCs the employer owns? Is that a crime now? Apparently so.
