atombomb30000 wrote this is a civilised conversation about computer componants..diffrent people have diffrent views upon what they find the ideal computer..the person has suggested they want it nearest to 1000 dollars as possible..and they are also newish to computer building....root has suggested a build with good componants but isnt really secure in some regions such as the PSU ...he could of suggested a higher PSU so that the poster who required the build wouldnt need to worry about running out of wattage and maybe frying their computer...a GPU needs at least 600w...thats just the GPU...the CPU is most probs about...75-100? you also have things on top of that like the fans...disk drives etc.....i know perfectly well what im going on about...you have just come in and looked at a few posts and assumed that im obviously under experienced...sorry sir thats completely un true
Let me run through this with you ok?
Average Build Wattage:
CPU:75-125W
GPU (770): 215W
Rest of the build: 50-70W
Highest numbers added together: 410W
Assuming another GPU is added: 625W
Left over wattage is 125W which is much more than needed for whatever it may be. So a 750W supply will work with this build with a lot left over. If the OP really wants to waste his money on the 1000W he's free to do so but just let it be know that it's a major overkill.

but what about if he wishes to get the upcoming generation CPU? or maybe for instance a titan black? im doing it so he doesnt have to get a 750w then expend upon another PSU which will add on top.thats exactly what im putting across..if its overkill so be it which will be the money will do him a good job as he has got things that will last him for an extremely long time.. which he wont need to worry about for a few years....okay heres a simple point im trying to make
(this could be in the future btw)
oh no i wanted to get the devils canyon CPU line but my PSU wont handle the needed wattage!
now if he got the 1000w he would think thats an extremely good decision because he doesnt have to go through the process of ordering a higher PSU on top of the 750 which would need more money for both of them.....and plus whos to say there wont be componants that will need higher wattage to run? because give it 2 years the 750w will be the most basic for gamers...times change
im not trying to create aggro im trying to put my point accross so its efficient for him

Again though if he got a new graphics card such as the Titan Black it'd be fine with a 750W for only one and if some how has the money, especially since he's going to college he said, he'd have no money to buy two. All i'm saying is that no matter what you do is that with any budget under 1000$ a 750PSU will always work.

yes i know it will work but im trying to say that if you have the 1000w there it will be efficient for about 2-4 years as it can take whatever is thrown at it...with the 750w theres still a chance it might hit the limit in the future...and if he were to get a 750w and it run out of usage he would then have to purchase a LARGER psu which would cost him more then the 1000w itself..for example 750w corsair 80....then sees its not powerful enough he then has to add a 1000w on to it which will cost him another 120-150? which will be about 220-250? whereas he got the 1000w in the first place he would only have to pay one price that will last him longer then the 750w....anyway thanks for the discussion im going to go to bed now (2:30 in the UK) its personally up to the buyer and what his perspective of the PC is..i understand your point but in my view my points more logical.

Just go with a 750w Like I suggested we help people on this sub-forum not argue about the psu
which is the cheapest part of all the main componets when building a computer I go away come back and you guys are still going on grow up
also gtx 770 is 230 watts metered

grow up? this isnt an arguement this is a debate on diffrent views of what could be right for the user...i dont see how an arguement would come into this..we havnt offended eachother weve just stated diffrent points.

Devil's Canyon has already been announced and it's basically better speed-binned Haswell with better thermal compound. Neither it or Broadwell, which will likely be even more power-efficient than Haswell, will make the PSU an issue. The GK110 cards also don't draw much more power than GK104 cards like the 770, so that's another non-issue. Predicting the future isn't a valid argument (see GTX 480).

root im not going into statistics but you know what im on about..technology will advance and it will need higher componants to support it i dont mean devils canyon is blah blah blah i mean in the general field of advancement..its best to be prepared

Ah yes I agree we are all little kids again but computers are like legos right, always had to fight about whose looked cooler
BTW the gtx 770 after a quick google search is right between 215-230W but usually lower because the number listed is the absolute max which it never hits anyway.
