Wanted to follow up.

Very happy with the Jasper I bought from JR. He was very helpful while I was deciding which way to go with the console.

There was some damage in shipping, and the console didn't work when it arrived. I shipped it back, and he made it a priority to repair the problem(s) and get it back out to me quickly.

I'm up and running now, and all is well.

Awesome guy to work with, and very happy with my experience.

I feel the need to post an update to my review. I am currently having an issue with JR that I wanted to give him an opportunity to respond to directly, but it has now been 3 days since I've reached out to him with no response.

Since I posted in my earlier review that there was "some damage in shipping", I wanted to elaborate on that, as well as the current status:

First, when the console arrived (the first time), it would not boot. Had power and fan, but no ring of light (other than the power light in the center). The drive also was "stuck" - it would take several tries for it to open, and once it did, it would not close (would just keep popping back open). Also, there was no disk with NAND and CPU key as was described in JR's store (he's later amended the store to say "request the NAND and CPU by Email".

I made him aware of these issues, and he was very apologetic - said he had no idea how this could have happened, but that "it must have been beat up pretty bad in shipping". Maybe, though the box it was shipped in was in perfect condition when it arrived, and the console itself seemed physically fine. Agreeing that if something did happen in shipping it wasn't his fault, I paid return shipping back to him ($30 to have it packed and shipped). He said he'd "make it a priority" to get it straightened out and sent back to me.

A few days later, he told me it had arrived, and that he'd look at it that night. The next day I asked if he had seen it, and he said he never got around to checking it out - other "stuff" had come up. Later that second day he said he couldn't see what could have caused it, so he was just going to re-wire the whole thing and replace the drive - he'd ship it back the next day. The next day it didn't ship ("work and life got in the way", he said).

Meanwhile, in the time he had it, I had asked about a hard drive and a controller. He told me he'd give me a good deal on a hard drive (but no further detail) and we agreed on a price for a controller. I asked him to include both when he shipped it back, and just just let me know how much $ to send (again, I trusted him and was fine with this - didn't have any concerns yet, still giving him the benefit of the doubt). I also reminded him THREE times during this week that I was still waiting for the NAND and CPU key, and each time he said he "forgot" and would Email them to me later (it's over a month later now, and I've still not received either).

The next day, he notified me that he had shipped the console back. I asked what I owed him for the hard drive and controller we discussed. He said he didn't ship a hard drive because he didn't have any more in stock, and that he "totally forgot" about the controller (again he said he was very sorry) and that he'd ship it later that day and send me a paypal invoice for it. I also asked about what the issues were, and all he said was that he "re-wired it and replaced the drive" and it was fine now. He'd tested it "hundreds of times" and it was now booting fine and the drive was working perfectly.

When the console arrived (there was also a shipping delay that was NOT his fault - apparently the post office lost the package for a couple of days and it took longer to get to me than expected), I emailed him to let him know. Being the holiday weekend, I told him I didn't expect to open it up for a couple of days. I also reminded him about the controller (since I'd still not heard anything about it), and he, yet again, apologized and said he forgot and would ship it, and he's not going to charge me for it, for all the "trouble". I should have it in a few days, he said. That was now over a week ago, and still, no controller.

That's not the end of the story... When I unpacked the console, the first thing I noticed was the sound of something plastic or metal "rattling around" inside it. Of course I was immediately concerned given the history until now. It did, however, boot up, the drive opened/closed as it should, and I could read disks. I figured I was all set. Over the next few days, my son and I put less than 5-hours of play time on this console. In total, we booted it from "cold" around a dozen times. Several times, it would not boot (same as it had before - power, fans, no ROL), and would require unplugging and trying again (I know, perhaps not uncommon for RGH2, but still concerning considering the history). Finally, by the 7th day after receiving it, it wouldn't boot at all anymore. Exactly the same symptoms as the first time around.

This past Monday, I tried to contact JR, and he's not replied to two attempts to reach him since. At this point, I have now contacted another TTG member with a strong positive reputation, and am sending this console in to him to be repaired properly.

All in all, JR was VERY nice to deal with. He was friendly and helpful while I decided which console (mod type) would be right for me, what accessories I needed, etc. I was as understanding as I could be with the "shipping damage" issue, and up until that point, he still seemed genuinely concerned and apologetic.

All of that said, I can't possibly recommend buying a console from him based on my experience. Continued "forgetting" to send me the NAND/CPU key, not following through with the hard drive and controller we talked about, and the fact that I have a dead console (twice) are all that needs to be said. Nice guy, but that won't get you a working console...

JR is on vacation at the moment. I'm gonna try to reach out to him so he can respond to this thread.

Edit: I don't want to get all in the middle of this, but I did manage to get ahold of JrMods and he says there is some more to the story here. He's on vacation right now but is very willing to work something out.

If JR is on Vacation, It should say so in his thread. That way people aren't wondering when he shall reply.
