I hate people get offended by a simple word, for example I love saying C*nt, the reason for that is because get offended, BUT WHY? Its four simple letters that one person said its a taboo word that's it, its not like when I say people are getting hurt, i dont know, I feel Semantics should be required in high school honestly.

We live in a world of ideals and one of these ideals is equality.
So..
If it's ok for one group of people to say the word n*gger then it must be ok for everbody to use the same word.

Also..

The slavery of africa was NOT started by the white man, It was the indigenous tribes of Africa who sold their neighbouring countrymen to anybody that was willing to buy them.

The connotations of the word are negative, and people if they say it to a black people are more often than not being racist. Its just like asians, loads of my asian friends call each other "paki" but you call it them in a derogatory way it is racist...

and wouldn't that be pragmatics rather than semantics, due to semantics being the relation to the word whereas pragmatics being the underlying/hidden meaning behind the word?

I think if you get offended by someone saying it (not in a hateful matter ie. "Hey N word get over here.") then you shouldn't hang around them.

Tyler The Creator said it best -

"People who care are the reason racism is still alive"

In a few years the "N" word will be just be a common part of vocabulary among everyone.

It's a word, not the end of the world. You and every other person that has a problem with it needs to get over it. People, and myself included, say whatever they feel like. And this word doesn't have racial meaning anymore. If anything, it's a social term to refer to your friends now.

Why is it ok for a white rapper to say it but not a white Builder for example? Some words have been around for years and nobody has ever minded them but now political correctness has **** everythin up.

Im not saying its okay to be racist it was a general point about the usage of words e.g In schools teachers arnt aloud to say 'Brain Storm' because "its offensive to epelepsi sufferers yet that word has been used for years without any problems!

I say it all the time and all of my friends from all corners of the world don't mind. They are chill and understand the way in which I use it. Honestly all the people I've met who have gotten mad over me using the word were other white people never the people the word is said to offend. It all depends on how you use it. Everything can be heard differently depending on the tone in which it is said.

If you could choose, would you rather be called a ****, or nice?

I know which word I would rather be called. The fact is, some words do have negative connotations, while some of them have positive ones. A lot of these have to do with the original meaning of the word, and how they have been used throughout history in the English language. The "n word", as I'll refer to it, hasn't been used positively at any point in history, and has quite negative connotations tracing back to slavery. That's why it's a "taboo" word, and that's why it will always remain one. It reminds us of a time where things weren't as "equal" (this term being used very loosely) as they are now regarding race.

If you disagree with this paragraph, I'll ask you this. If someone called you, or any of the members in your family a retard, or a ****, would you be offended?
