if an update appears on a jtag can you just click yes for it to download or have to do something special?

You need to update it using xeBuild, and the new build for it hasn't been released. You need to wait, because if you updated using XBL then it would brick your console

Yes it also all depends on who's releasing just whatever undo don't download it will brick your console and you will be screwed
