Since Halo 4 made such a change to the core gameplay of Halo, I feel some type of integration of this idea would be nice for the people that like the old school Halo. I know the "newer" players in Halo will probably want it to stay the same. This way it can appeal to the masses.
Ranked and Social should be brought back into Halo, but in a different way this time. Ranked should maintain gameplay similar to Halo 3. This means dual-wielding, no sprinting, and no armor abilities (something map inclusive, like the orbs for invisibility and overshields are truer to Halo anyways). This way the hardcore Halo players can have the ranking system back as well as the core Halo gameplay people know and love, yet, the people that like the new stuff can't really complain about. Social would be the side where all the "new" and "innovative" stuff could run rampant. This way it would leave less room to complain from both sides.
A definite must for this game is the inclusion of UNSC air vehicles, I have no idea what they were thinking excluding that in the first place. When people start up a real petition to bring back a feature in a game, that's saying something. There should also be bigger changes custom game/forge wise.
At least custom games should allow for a higher player count, there's no hardware reason why it can't happen. This could bring bigger maps and bigger vehicles. You could have new game modes where a team could defend a scarab while it attacks an target defended by another team. You could bring back invasion at a bigger scale, this time utilizing pelicans and phantoms piloted by players for strategic insertions/extractions. The possibilities would be getting closer and closer to endless. Forge would kind of change along with custom games, I'm not going to go on about that one.
This is what I'm thinking would be a nice addition to Halo 5. What do you guys think?

That's what they should have done with Halo 4, had two different sections where the players who play competitively could have their section (Ranked) where the game settings would be pretty distinct than the settings in Social, and the players who are looking for a good time, mess around, and all that type of stuff could have theirs (Social) where 343 could show off their new features.
I'm not sure how popular the ranked playlists would be though because 343 did have some playlists in Halo 4 that were for competitive players and they were always the least played, Proving Ground, Team Throwdown, Legendary Slayer (which was more like H3 Style gameplay), and Team Slayer (which now took the place of Infinity Slayer). It was probably because a majority of the Halo 4 population left after the first week and when they did introduce the first competitive playlist it was too late but still.
They definitely need to have the in game rank visible though, the CSR system was disliked by many people.
