I'm going to go ahead and both agree and disagree with this.
If you're starting off and you really want to help then yes it's understandable that you'd want gold. But I used to just look for modded lobbies and if I had gold then I probably wouldn't do anything. Now I have TTG open at all times.

It's the giveawayers choice who they gift... albeit if we do not agree with it. This is why I rarely host giveaways, but gift members I know deserve it...
I believe that new members should deserve A chance of being gifted... but that's just me

HazardousTutsHD wrote I entered a gold giveaway a few days ago, it said "Anyone can enter" so I tried my luck and they gifted me gold. Since then I have been on everyday for at least 3 hours trying to help people. I get where you're coming from though. I think it would be quite annoying if someone who just joined got picked over someone that has been helping out the community for months, but at the end of it all it's the hosts money and they can spend it however they please.
I'm sorry but I think this is quite dumb. People like me who contribute daily almost never win (in my case) I usually have to buy it when I have enough. But I guess its up to the gifted because after all it is their money.

As Asymmetrical said, people probably only do it so they could get closer to the badge, which does irritate me honestly.

Asymmetrical wrote And do you know why?
Because some giveaways are simply to get closer to the badge so they dont take into account how long someone has been on the site or whether they have done anything in the day or so they have been on.
The few people that do what you described are paying $150 just to have a tiny badge next to their name on a forum site, so I honestly feel more pity for the people who gift just for the sole purpose of getting a badge.

To be fair most if not all of them say "Anyone can enter" so they have a right to do it.
I get your point tho so many members deserve it!

When i Gift, i tend to look at how active the member(s) is, and post count etc, but now and then i go for a newbie haha. Why not?
We all start there at one point.

I kinda have mixed feelings about this, sure maybe they can't be trusted as much but you can't always judge a book by its cover, ya know?

I have low post count but I've been around TTG for 2 years and know lots about the site so you can't really justify what someone deserves based on post count.

Post count doesn't mean anything.. If you're hosting a giveaway and don't want people posting under, for example, 100 posts then SAY THAT... Personally if I'm doing a giveaway it's to anyone who enters and not on what someones post count is... Stupid rant. Done.
