So i bought an ipod on ebay for 15 dollars knowing it was disabled but i thought it was a steal considering how easy it could be fixed. I tried to connect the device to my windows laptop but it never registered. Itunes didnt pick it up either. Ive searched apple's fourms and youtube but there are no helping advice from anywhere. The ipod starts to charge when i put it in the usb port but my laptop dosent pick it up. Any suggestions?

Try a different cable first, then try cleaning the charging port with isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. If neither of those fix it then the iPod has a problem with it's charging port.
Unfortunately on just about every iPod model that I can think of all of the charging ports are soldered to the main board making it extremely difficult and not worth it to repair. If the first two suggestions don't work you should look into getting a new/different iPod.
