you have a budget that can get you a quite nice gaming laptop i would not suggest getting a macbook pro i have one and i primarily use it for things such as work school TTG facebook youtube and just general internet searches i would recommend you get the MSI GX60 1AC-021US it does stretch your budget about 90 dollars more but i think it would be a good buy for you you with a 15.6" Full HD Anti-Reflective Display, AMD Radeon HD 7970M 2GB GDDR5, 750GB Hard Drive (7200RPM), 8GB DDR3 1600MHz System Memory and it has a built in 720p webcam so if you would like to start or already have a youtube you could do a face cam

You could build a good gaming PC for that money.

Pretty much no one on this site would recommend getting a laptop for gaming. They exist, but they are overpriced. The general consensus is to get a relatively cheap notebook/laptop, and then spend the rest of your money on building a desktop. With a $1200 budget, you could build an amazing PC that will crush any game you throw at it.
Also, you don't get a Macbook for gaming. It's just wrong.
If you want the operating system, you can build a PC that runs OSX (hackintosh)

Look at the asus g750 series, they have 17.3inch 1080p screen, i7-4700HQ processors and gtx 700m series graphics cards. I think you could grab a G750JW for that price. Which has a gtx 765m and gb of ram. It will run nearly all games on high settings with playable fps (30+) and yes it can run Mine craft xD it has an amazing cooling system which cools it very very well and it is pretty much silent. Only downside is its quite bulky and heavy so it's more a mobile work station than a 'laptop' :L just look up some reviews on it on YouTube and written ones on Google. It's the laptop I've decided I'm going to buy when I get the money.
