ChaoticNuttall wrote But a HDD isnt very good for recording gameplay for example im only managing to squeeze on 15-25 fps on recording which is horrendous but it doesnt effect the gameplay itself. i need a SSD with good capability's. By all means if anyones knows a HDD which is perfect for recording at 60 fps please tell me.Why would you record at 60fps knowing youtube only allows 30fps at this moment in time. 2. a 1TB SSD won't last you if youre planning on using it for recording which you're stupid for doing.
You don't need a 1000 watt psu, you could however use your old 650w psu.
Just get a 2TB-4TB HDD dedicated for recording with 7200RPM normally around 50 pound for 2TB.

ChaoticNuttall wrote Iv learned that systems run at there best efficiency when they only use 40/50% of the full power of the PSU
Technically, you're right, but it doesn't matter.

If the 650w unit you have is good, it's still overkill.
If you want an SSD, get one that's just large enough for your OS, programs, and a few games. 128 GB is usually enough. For mass storage, get a mechanical drive. I'd suggest keeping your motherboard and CPU. You can use Shadowplay on the 780 to record without any significant requirement from the CPU.

See im planning using the SSD for recording purposes only nothing else will be on this unit.
iv only ever seen recommendations for SSD's for recording gameplay. True i know i never though of that tbh. 30fps is good but i would prefer the satisfaction of being able to still play at 60 fps while i record. im not entirely sure on the PSU which is why im very open to suggestions on that. im not sure about the I5 With this motherboard im currently using i had to install drivers so i could use this CPU but i checked and i dont think it supports that I7. the motherboard im using is a "Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z68P-DS3 Motherboard (Rev 1.0)" thats the best i can give you.
Many thanks for replies! its much appreciated.

So many things wrong with this.
1. You don't need a 1000W power supply. I have a platinum 1000W psu with 2 780ti's overclocked and an overclocked 4960 i7 to 4.5 GHz and I still barely use 80% of the power.
2. GPU. I would wait until the 880 comes out. From what I've heard, it will be coming out for the same price as the 780ti and it will be much much more powerful than the regular 780.
3. Why do you need a 1TB SSD? No one uses an SSD as primary storage unless you have thousands of dollars and don't care about throwing money away. Get a small SSD to boot Windows and priority programs and use and HDD for storage.
4. 780 will not be enough to play games on ultra at 50-60 FPS and record. Older games from like 2-3 years ago, you might manage to do that, but definitely not new games like Watch Dogs.
In general, there's just too many problems with what you're aiming for and what you have listed. Just have someone help you make a better build.

Your correct apart from the last point. My 7850 is enough to play games on ultra and record at 60FPS. Watchdogs is just badly optimized as it come from a console which uses 3.5GB of VRAM which lowers the performance of 2GB cards.
Recording, depending what software you use, is CPU heavy not GPU so the 780 will be fine.

Not read my other comments? i didn't say i was replacing my HDD! im using the SDD for recording purposes only. a 780 will handle that pressure i know it will. the SSD only needs to be big because of the space footage takes up. 250gb just wouldnt hack it. with recording its the CPU that takes most of the pressure. i know about the PSU im planning on changing that i mentioned that this upgrade is not set in stone. i came for advice not criticism.

If you use Shadowplay, and you probably should, an SSD would be completely useless for 1080p @ 60 FPS. Encoding is done by the GPU on the fly with virtually no CPU requirement and the write speed is greatly reduced as a result.
