Alright so my friend wants to record his gameplay on the call of duty series but he needs help, so I told him I'd ask on here for advice. So what recording device should he get and what programs should he download for it? And is there anything else he should get for this? I'm not sure on his budget but if someone could like give me a cheap way to go then like a medium price range to go and a high price range that would be awesome and very helpful. Whoever helps me out the best will get +rep! Also I think this is in the right forum.

Most people buy the Elgato these days but it used to be the Hauppauge HD Pvr.
The price range is around 100-130 GBP depending on what one you want and what quality you desire.
I suggest the Elgato seeing as the quality is normally better and you can Live Stream with it more easily too if he ever wants to get into that.
Just tell him to research into what one he wants to and see if its worth an investment on his behalf.
