I am looking to upgrade my computer and the first thing I want upgrade is my power supply.
I am looking for a good quality PSU from about 650-750 watts that is high quality and a fair price, I live in the UK so I use GBP.

Editiionz wrote What is your current build. Most systems will only use 450w of power so getting 650-750 would be stupid and a waste of money

My current system is this...
RAM: 8Gb (upgrading to 12Gb)
Processor: intel i5 4th gen
Graphics Card: Radeon HD 7850 Royal King(upgrading to crossfire this graphics card with another of the same type)
Sound Card: Asus Xonar 5.1 sound card
HDD: 1.5Tb
I am going to get a cooling fan because it gets really hot and I have blue LED lights on my case, I am going into my second year of university for computer games design and I do 3D modelling and heavy programming so I know that I do need all this stuff.

Not much point getting 12GB of RAM seeing as its hard to find 6GB sticks and the three sticks will make the system run in single channel mode, rather than dual channel mode you have currently i assume.
Which motherboard do you have out of curiosity, and whats your budget for the power supply, because there are some brill units out there but there is no point linking them if you cant afford them.

Maybe I will stay with the 8Gb then and just wait until I have the money for 16Gb and my budget for the PSU would probably be about 150GBP if I needed to go that high.

Buxtyy wrote Power supplies really arent that much. I'll suggest this one as its a great unit and its pretty cheap, it is way more than enough power but the extra headroom will mean it wont be at full tilt and therefore should run quieter.

Thanks man, I just want to get a high quality part for my computer so it doesn't die like my current power supply is doing. And to answer a previous question I don't know what motherboard I have I would need to open my computer to find out.

I recommend upgrading to a higher end GPU rather than x-firing with your current GPU.

Thanks man, I am just looking at every possibility for upgrades for my computer now, but that makes sense to do that, although I will need to get a new motherboard as I am going to run out of PCI-e slots, plus my case isn't really that big so I will need a new case for a decent 3Gb GPU.
