I hate it when people complain about resolution. Every single time there's a new game, and it doesn't run at least 1080p/60FPS, legions of people complain about it. Why does it matter?

A few years ago, no one cared about resolution. They just asked the question; does it look good? But now, it's like if your game doesn't run at 1080p/60FPS it's suddenly not good enough. Seriously? It doesn't even make that big of a difference, but I suppose PC gamers will grab at anything to make themselves feel superior to console gamers.

But console gamers do this too, every time there's a new game and the PS4 might run it at a slightly higher resolution than the Xbox One, people act as if it's such a huge difference.

Really guys, it's not. Based on how far you're sitting from the TV, most won't even notice the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

1080p and 720p is the most meaningless comparison, because even at 900/720/700p, games can still look as good as their 1080p counterparts. Looking at [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] , for the Xbox One, I can't even tell the difference TBH. Sure, the PS4 might be sharper, but the Xbox One version has better colours and textures. Stuff like colours, textures, etc, make more of a difference than resolution does at this point. Framerate also makes a bigger difference than resolution.

Lastly, great graphics doesn't make a game, gameplay does. Who still plays the original Crysis today? Almost nobody, because the graphics on Crysis are worse than today's games, and the gameplay wasn't good enough to keep people playing. But tons of people still play Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, even though the graphics suck now. Why? Because graphics fade, and when they do, all you're left with in a game is gameplay.

i agree with this alot. yeah ps4 may run a game at 1080p and xbox one at 900p, but can you notice it... no!

Gameplay make the game a good one, like you said.

What I hate is when developers sacrifice fps for 1080p in my opinion I would rather have 720p/60fps than 1080p/30fps there is a huge difference between fps but resolution not so much.
