You gotta be above level 20. Do missions for Ron and then Trevor will text you for Lost My Mind. You don't need at least one special crate, but you do need crate drops unlocked. You can have someone host Lost My Mind to unlock it, but then you have to host it yourself afterwards to unlock crates.

It is definitely Lost My Mind. I've done it on two accounts and right after Ron calls saying that you can get crate drops. I've never even done Base Invaders yet and I've gotten one special crate and over 20 regular crates in the past five days.
