You can use an xbox controller, play station controller or anything you want, you are not restricted to certain things like on consoles so you can easily plug this into your TV and be set without the need for a keyboard and mouse.
Considering that both next-gen potatoes have significantly less processing power than this build (especially when you look at real-world gaming performance), this PC will have you absolutely set. You can run it at higher resolutions, higher detail levels, and higher framerates than the equivalent so-called "next-gen" potatoes. Also, since it's a PC, you have the freedom to adjust your settings accordingly (for example: if you want 120FPS, you can just lower the graphical settings or resolution to something like a potato (or even lower if you really wanted to). The Athlon X4 offers more than enough CPU power for modern gaming, sometimes even coming within arm's reach of an i5-4670k .
Yeah, but the copy of Windows has to at least be included in this, which is around an [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] , so it's really around $515 before shipping costs.
Also, I'm Canadian, which would mean a huge increase in shipping costs (if I were to order from the US sites that you listed), or an increase in the price of the components, so this build (I am purely estimating here, would cost me around $600). Compared to the $450/$400 that the PS4/Xbox One respectively cost here in Canada, I'm not sure if it would be worth it.
I already play most indie/free-to-play games on my laptop anyways, and while the GPU is really weak (Intel HD 4000), it's still adequate for most non AAA games.
PC does have Steam sales, and don't get me wrong, it is a positive for PC gaming, but you can resell console games. I can buy a game for $65, and then resell that game (on Ebay/Kijiji/Craigslist) a couple weeks later for like $40, thus the game only costs me only $25. I can also buy games on sale, and resell them when the price returns back to normal, thus actually generating a profit. The price of games also drops relatively quickly, and there are console games that are commonly on sale for around $20 as well, at least speaking from personal experience. Also, new AAA games on PC also cost the same as well. Games such as Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3 (which are all quite old now) are around $20 new on consoles right now, and even less (under $10) used.
Don't get me wrong, one day, I may get a PC (hopefully if I can somehow conjure up the extra money), but right now, the benefits don't outweigh the costs for me, and this may be subject to change. But I'm pretty happy with console gaming right now.

Its okay, but at the moment can get boring, but soon enough when the next gen games come out and this winter when pretty much they all do, i will be happy and laughing at all those on old gen.

And go on console and hardly anyone talks on game coms unless they have to. And more people dont play consoles, PC has huge community's on most of the games!

1: The octa-core APU in the One and PS4 is stronger than the 750k, even though the clock speed is lower. Single-thread performance isn't everything you know.
2: Both the Xbox One / PS4 have 8gbs of RAM, so you need to add another 4gbs to that build (which will cost about another $40-50 dollars.)
3: The "next-gen potatoes" are equivalent to mid-range PCs, so by that logic any PC with anything less than a 7870 is a potato.
4: You still aren't factoring peripherals such as a monitor or mouse/keyboard OR shipping into the price.
5: Where's Windows? That's a hefty 100 dollar addition to the final price.
Annnd a 750k (which is $80, mind you) is most definitely not "within arms reach" of a 4670k (which is $235).

You don't seem like you know much about building PCs. Most of what you say is PC Master Race garbage to show how PCs are supreme to anything and everything. You like PC gaming over console gaming, I get it -- but don't spew out exaggerated or false information just to make your platform look better. I'm a console gamer myself with both a 360 and a One which I use regularly, but do you see me belittling PCs? Nope. If you're going to take the time to defend your platform of choice, at least have enough dignity to keep things legit. :coffee:

Yes, I bought an Xbox One about a month ago and it's absolutely great the only downside has been my internet, if you have bad internet I wouldn't recommend getting one otherwise go get one!

If you look a real world benchmarks you can see that this out performs the next gen co soles and also has all the added benefits of PC gaming which makes it arguably better. If you add in the factor of PS4 and Xbox One games and online subscriptions you can drop an extra $100+ To make this build MUCH better than any of these consoles.
This build will be able to play 1080/60fps on most new games, it will be able to MAX games such as Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Sniper Elite 3 and much more all of which cannot be done on these consoles.
Unlike Console you are not restricted and one company does not have control over you, you can have any operating system that you want including a range of free Operating Systems. Such as Steam OS and Linux. You can get Windows 8.1 for $20 previous versions of windows for cheaper.
You do not need a monitor you can use a TV and a controller just like these consoles. That's like saying the PS4 is basically $1000 because you need a TV to use it.

The 270x isn't going to give you amazing performance like you make it seem. 1080p @ 60FPS isn't that much of a feat when your running at medium settings. And compared to the next-gen consoles, it's really not that much more powerful of a card. And no, you cant add in game and subscription costs -- that's just stupid. If I were to spend $300 this year on games and Xbox LIVE, but just today I decided to save my money and switch to only using my PC -- the $300 I was going to spend on Xbox games and gold subscription isn't going to just magically appear in my pocket. You have to be practical, it's much easier to make small purchases throughout the year than make one big purchase all at once. "You do not need a monitor, you can use a TV and a controller just like these consoles." Seriously? The smallest TV in my house is a 32' HDTV, so you're telling me that I should just use an Xbox controller while hooking it up to what is effectively, an over-sized monitor? Why wouldn't I just buy a console at that point? The things you say literally don't make any sense at all. "PC is better, but you know you can always use a controller and hook up your con- I mean PC to your TV and play it like that, you don't need to spend money on a monitor or mouse/keyboard" You mean just like a console? If I'm going to play PCs games, I'm going to play them on a normal sized monitor with a mouse in keyboard, because if I'm not doing that what's the point? For the added graphical fidelity and mod support? I'd much rather pay less and get a console with mid-range specs that I can jump right into a game with.
This entire argument is so pointless, in the end it comes down to what platform you like better. Whether it's consoles or PC, it doesn't matter. If your $1000 computer beats my $400 "potato", then so be it. As long as I enjoy my console and you enjoy your PC, who cares? The point is to have fun and enjoy your console / PC, not bicker about which one is better. I'm not even going to get into the "free OS" excuse either, there's a reason Windows leads the OS market by far. I'd much rather pay the $100 for a Windows key than burden myself with finding alternatives to the programs I need that don't have SteamOS or Linux support, and there's a lot of programs.. and games.. and peripherals that aren't supported.

No the 270 will max out most properly optimized games while remaining at 60fps and 1080p. I have its Nvidia equivalent and there is only 3 games in my library that I can't max out and keep a smooth framerate. (2 can be fixed by tweaking one setting and the other is ARMA 3)
As for the TV/Monitor. I currently use a 27' monitor so 32' is not that bad. My best friend uses a 45' TV for PC gaming and he sits on a couch with the keyboard in his lap and mouse by his side.
Seriously what is wrong with 32' monitors?

Also could you seriously not pinch over $15 for a keyboard and mouse. if yo'u can't I'm sure you or a friend has a spare mouse and keyboard lying around. I have two keyboards in my attic right now from the late 90s and just so you know, keyboards have not changed that much since the 90s.
Well if you want to pay more money for overpriced games at 900p/30fps, with a small game library, while on top of that paying another $60 a year to access the second half of your games that you already bought, along with a lack of other things like mod support, design, in game browsers, console commands and more, go right ahead.

-Misaki wroteHomeland wrote-Misaki wroteHomeland wrote+1, if someone can link me to a build for $400 that has better graphics than the Potato One/Potato 4 (legit copy of Windows and peripherals + monitor included), I will buy it.
Bearing in mind, Potato 4 and XB1 Games cost around $40+ on release 2 games would put you back $80 which could buy you added RAM, an SSD, better video card to make it even more superior to the next gen potatoes. In Contrast there are thousands of F2P games and indie games on steam as well as some very popular games such as Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2. Metro Last Light, Bioshock infinite all going under $10 in the Steam Sales.
You also have to pay to play online on Potato 4 and XB1.

You can use an potato controller, play station controller or anything you want, you are not restricted to certain things like on potatoes so you can easily plug this into your TV and be set without the need for a keyboard and mouse.
1: The octa-core APU in the One and Potato 4 is stronger than the 750k, even though the clock speed is lower. Single-thread performance isn't everything you know.
2: Both the Potato One / Potato 4 have 8gbs of RAM, so you need to add another 4gbs to that build (which will cost about another $40-50 dollars.)

You like PC gaming over potato gaming, I get it -- but don't spew out exaggerated or false information just to make your platform look better. I'm a potato gamer myself with both a 360 and a One which I use regularly, but do you see me belittling PCs? Nope. If you're going to take the time to defend your platform of choice, at least have enough dignity to keep things legit. :coffee:
If you look a real world benchmarks you can see that this out performs the next gen co soles and also has all the added benefits of PC gaming which makes it arguably better. If you add in the factor of Potato 4 and Potato One games and online subscriptions you can drop an extra $100+ To make this build MUCH better than any of these potatoes.
This build will be able to play 1080/60fps on most new games, it will be able to MAX games such as Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Sniper Elite 3 and much more all of which cannot be done on these potatoes.
Unlike Potato you are not restricted and one company does not have control over you, you can have any operating system that you want including a range of free Operating Systems. Such as Steam OS and Linux. You can get Windows 8.1 for $20 previous versions of windows for cheaper.
You do not need a monitor you can use a TV and a controller just like these potatoes. That's like saying the Potato 4 is basically $1000 because you need a TV to use it.
The 270x isn't going to give you amazing performance like you make it seem. 1080p @ 60FPS isn't that much of a feat when your running at medium settings. And compared to the next-gen potatoes, it's really not that much powerful of a card. And no, you cant add in game and subscription costs -- that's just stupid. If I were to spend $300 this year on games and Potato LIVE, but just today I decided to save my money and switch to only using me PC -- the $300 I was going to spend on Potato games and gold subscription isn't going to just magically appear in my pocket. You have to be practical, it's much easier to make small purchases throughout the year than make one big purchase all at once. "You do not need a monitor, you can use a TV and a controller just like these potatoes." Seriously? The smallest TV in my house is a 32' HDTV, so you're telling me that I should just use an Potato controller while hooking it up to what is effectively, an over-sized monitor? Why wouldn't I just buy a potato at that point? The things you say literally don't make any sense at all. "PC is better, but you know you can always use a controller and hook up your con- I mean PC to your TV and play it like that, you don't need to spend money on a monitor or mouse/keyboard" You mean just like a potato? If I'm going to play PCs games, I'm going to play them on a normal sized monitor with a mouse in keyboard, because if I'm not doing that what's the point? For the added graphical fidelity and mod support? I'd much rather pay less and get a potato with mid-range specs that I can jump right into a game with.
This entire argument is so pointless, in the end it comes down to what platform you like better. Whether it's potatoes or PC, it doesn't matter. If your $1000 computer beats my $400 "potato", then so be it. As long as I enjoy my potato and you enjoy your PC, who cares? The point is to have fun and enjoy your potato / PC, not bicker about which one is better.
Seriously, Pc's can do so much more than play games, you would be stupid buying a next gen console when you can get a PC and do much much more on it and play games.
- Virtual Reality (Oculus Rift)
- ESports
- Streaming
- Screen Recording
- Video Editing
- More Family Friendly (Can be used for schoolwork, web games, at a couch, at a desk, used remotely, used for communication, used to emulate console games)
- Better for Media Consumption
- Free Online functionality
- Better for Online Play
- Games can be modded (For free)
- Can be any shape and size
- Better Resolutions, Framerates, FOV, Detail Levels
- Overclockable
- Share Steam Games with other for free
- The Games you buy last forever
- Can be upgraded and repaired
- Studio Quality Voice communication
- More exclusives
- Can use any controller you want
These are just a few things from the top of my head but it's amazing that a PC for the price of a next gen console can play games better and do so much more. Without being restricted by Sony and Microsoft.
It's amazing how restricted you are on consoles and how much power Sony / Microsoft have over you.
