Some background:
Im a pretty serious gamer. Can and will regularly clock in 6 hr+ shifts on my console so comfort and durability are my #1 concern. Im getting my ps4 soon and Im looking to get a new headset. I have pretty much only had turtle crud for the past 4 years and have seen first hand their horrible, cheap quality so that brand is out the window for me. I am not the most delicate of people and will admit to throwing around my headset once in a while - so, again durability! I play co-op games and mmos, as well as stream and record gameplay sometimes so mic quality is pretty important as well. Nothing fancy but I dont want to sound like Im talking through a walkie-talkie.

What Im looking for is a sturdy headset that I can pretty much take apart if something breaks. Interchangeable cables are a must for me because that is where I have lost the most head sets with cables shorting out and the like. Mic doesnt have to be detachable I dont beat them too bad lol My budget is $300 MAX

ALSO I've been looking into a40 astros for a while now but they seem like a phony hype (I would equate them to the dr de beats?). They have everything I would want in a head set (comfort, interchangeable cables, built in mic, etc) but Im not sure if they are worth the price because I have never had them. If any of you have had them for longer than 1 yr please let me know your experience with them. I dont want to spend $250 on them if there is something better out there!

Thanks and sorry for the novel

I've had Astro's for about 2 years now, and it was one of the best purchases I've made.

I've had Astro A50's for a little over a year now and I absolutely love them. I went with the A50's instead of the A40's only because I sit a good bit away from my PS4 so the cables would not have worked. If the cords don't bother you I would suggest going with the A40's just because of the mixamp.
