I recently seen an ad for a German Shepherd x Akita on the internet.
He is two years old and the ad says that he will be put down today if nobody takes him...
I really want to get him but there are two babies at my house.
One is only 1 year old and the other is 3.
Has anybody got any experience with this breed and some advice for me, please?

Thank you

I have 3 german shepherd dogs and they are extremely loyal to their family. Although every dog is different, but my dogs love little kids and even toy size dogs.

But if the dog is from a backyard breeder it could have a bad temperment.

The breed is a great family pet, but make sure that the individual dog fits your needs. I recommend buying from a reliable, reputable breeder.

Thanks man! But the dog is free as the owner can no longer keep him!

No problem. I just would make sure that the dog is ok around your kids. If the dog was bred and raised properly there is no more versatile, loyal breed out there.

Well I just messaged him and he said that we can go up to visit. He is only two years old so do you think that he'll be trainable at that age?

Definitely go for it. You'll be saving this dog. Plus, as long as it wasn't abused and was raised right, then it will all be good. Plus, most dogs like babies.

He is two years old so you can still train him to be more loyal towards you and your family. And I don't understand the owner. Why put him down? It costs money and is harsh on the dog. You can put him up for adoption for free...

It should be slightly harder to train, But I would recommend slowly introducing him to the children and see how he reacts, and as he grows more accustom to them allow him to stay with them (I recommend letting him near them for longer periods of time each time you do this) But considering his age I would no re name him as this could confuse him and will take him awhile to grow accustom to.

Alot of people question big dogs around kids be quite often its the big dogs that would put their neck out for the kids.. my little brother grew up around a big 170lb mastiff and was fine he would even sleep next to him and sometimes he would be in a mood to annoy the dog e.g Pulling his ears biting him etc.. and i didnt one ever see him look at him like he wanted to bite/hurt him..
