I am building this for my brother, who wants to buy a gaming PC. I already have the HDD and SSD, and Windows 8.1 so I left those out. His budget is ~$700. He wants it to be easy to upgrade in the future, which is why I picked the Sabertooth mobo and a 750W PSU.

Let me know what you guys think!

I wasnt sure about Intel because their processors are wayyy too expensive. I would think that the 6-core 3.9Ghz AMD would out perform the Intel. I did switch out the video cards though. How is the motherboard you put in?

Intel processors are 100x better than AMD processors. You get what you pay for, that i5 is still better than the 8350 from AMD.

Definitely go with the 270x graphics card. Great performance at a great price.

You can't really go wrong with that motherboard. MSI is a great company and will replace any faulty (DoA) motherboards.

*Please Note Im making a recommendation for a budget build, Im tried of getting misunderstood, I know intel is better but when I talk about them in this section Im talking about Price to prerformance when on a budget*
Sadly I would have to disagree with you there for some major reasons. 1. Intel is overpriced for its Price to Performance ratio (FOR BUDGET BUILDS). The 8350 actually out preforms alot of intel processors in cases and is alot cheaper. Ill even give you some benchmarks (I will be providing the ones for the i7 3770k and link the article so you can see the rest of the benchmarks for your self of it being compared to more cpus:

AMD FX 8350 ($179)-

Metro 2033:
1080 - 36.44 FPS
1440 - 20.44 FPS

Crysis Warhead xsplit (this is an expectation when streaming)
720 - 48.28 FPS
1080 - 26.44 FPS
1600x900 - 39.28 FPS

Intel i7 3770k ($305) -

Metro 2033:
1080 - 27.480
1440 - 12.960

Intel i7 3820 ($302):

Crysis Warhead xsplit
720 - 42.88
1080 - 26.00
1600x900 - 36.6

I didn't feel like listing all of them but the 8350 out preforms them in some cases and sometimes it doesn't but considering that its ALOT cheaper its sad. But you can't go wrong with the 6300 or the 8350 especially with devs experimenting with 8 cores alot more now. But don't listen to intel fanboys who continuously trash amd cpus, They will always say amd is bad no matter how much proof is against them. (Theres even a guy who uses intel (Jayztwocents) that will even state that there isnt a huge difference and it was a cost mistake switching to his i7 from the 8350.) But I shall also link you to a build as well.

This build shouldn't have to be upgraded for a while. The standard heatsync works fine as long as you don't overclock it (CPU is great for overclocking). Oh and this build comes with 3 free games of your choosing from amd. But With the money you can save from getting the 8350 you can upgrade from the 270x to the 280x (Or you can change it to what ever else) But personally the 6300 would of done just fine as well.

Stop trying to use a video which ios over a year old to put Intel down. An i5-4690k beats an FX-8350 whether you agree or not. You're really starting to get on my nerves because in this section, people spend their real life money on PC components and when you're pointing them in the wrong dirwection, they end up wasting that money. Why don't you go do some research and come back when you know what you're talking about. The 4690k's single core performance simply blows the FX-8350 out of the water. Not only that, but it is a newer CPU with much more upgrade room and beats the FX-8350 in the majority of benchmarks. The "article" you provided is an out-dated YouTube video. Intel CPU's are not over-priced, you get what you pay for. AMD's CPU's have shot down in price recently. For a budget build, AMD is the way to go. If, however, you have money for Intel, get Intel. Multithreaded work would benefit from the FX-8350 instead of the 4690k but then again, an i7 will beat the FX-8350 and upgrading from i5 to i7 is easier than upgrading from AMD to Intel. If you refuse to believe Intel is a better choice for gaming, here;
Keep in mind, the FX-8350 performs better in games which prefer multi-threading and the 3570k is an older CPU, the 4690k is a better CPU than the 3570k. The -7-4790k will completely blow the FX-8350 out of the water in games which utilize hyperthreading. The whole "fanboys" argument you're using is pathetic. Countless times I've seen you bashing Intel and whenever someone disagrees, you show the same out-dated YouTube video. The FX series of CPU's has next to no upgrade room compared to Intel. I could build a PC with a Pentium and upgrade straight to an i7. With the FX-8350, there's not much I can upgrade to. There's also the fact that an FX-8320 is a better choice than an FX-8350 but I'm not getting into that.

OP-For $700, this is what I'd be getting;

Im going to go ahead and say this. Theres no need to be disrespectful. I own a pc with an 8350, Ive owned pcs with i5s, The computers in our research labs have i7s. I have a decent Idea of what is good and what is not. I build pcs for friends and anyone whos willing to buy the parts but doesn't want to build it themselves. I have bench marked the 8350 myself, I have bench marked i5s and i7s. In rendering/Everyday use/and gaming never once has intel ever proved it worth my extra 75+$. Might I also add that I have my own opinions, and yes the video is old but the fact is even now there still isn't a major difference. Seriously if your getting "upset" that im recommending a good cpu then maybe you should grow up. Yes people are spending there hard earned money but if your building a $700 pc its better to get a cheaper cpu so you can invest more in the other parts and upgrade the cpu later, I mean comeon the fx 6300 is enough for what this guy is looking for. Seriously though explain to me how im pointing someone in the wrong direction? How? I gave a recommendation that I can stand behind, that others can stand behind, and that can stand for itself. Intel is not the only cpu out their, its not god of cpus. Ok? Im just tired of people saying amd is horrible and intel is 100x better. When in fact it is NOT. No matter how much you try to convice people and no matter how much you call people dumb who recommend amd the fact is amd cpus are good. Oh let me mention this I stated that intels are overpriced for their price to performance ratio. But I don't want to rant to much as your comment was pretty ignorant as you are suggesting im trying to make people waste my money, But Ive rendered 20 minute clips with an Intel 4870k and an 8350, There was literally only a 5-6 minute difference max (even with effects) But the fact is when it comes to everyday use and your not looking to spend alot of money amd is the way to go. But you are one of those people that make me regret even ever building a pc with intel in it, you have your head so far up intels trap its not even funny. But I want you to understand Im entitled to my own opinion, MY proof was proof, even now there still wouldn't be a major gap. But if you want to argue then PM because its really ignorant to call me out on the forums. Thats all for my rant, and please dont say I dont know anything because I know what Im talking about and I only recommend parts that I have used and know work and are worth some ones hard earned money.
Only open spoiler if your want to read my rant that I just hid, But to JWM/JMW Your original build is fine, But I would recommend getting a 6300 to save a few dollars and get an MSI r9 270x, Its cheaper than the 660 and is slightly better. Dont let these guys make you think your build is bad. You build is fine and should handle most games without an issue. Sorry for ranting on your post but I hate it when people seriously think intel is god of cpus. But your build should be fine, and it should be easily upgradable in the future. But seriously Intel cpus are unnecessary in most cases unless you buy them for what they are meant to do. I have found very few Intel cpus worth the money for everyday uses.

You can't seriously be recommending OP gets an FX-6300 and an R9 270X in a $700 build. Seriously? You really think an FX-6300 paired with an R9 270X will beat an i5-4590 and a GTX 770? Terrabytez has an FX-6300 and R9 270X, if I'm not mistake and I'm sure he'll be able to vouch for the fact an i5-4590 and GTX 700 will beat them. Of course, the FX-6300 and R9 270X are fantastic components for their price but for OP's budget, he could do better. It would cost less than $500 to build a decent PC with an FX-6300 and R9 270X. For $700, OP could easily pair an FX-6300 with an R9 290.

Forget i5 vs FX8, what you really want is a G3258.

I'd swap my 4590 for the G3258 if I was ready to overclock a CPU That thing is an absolute beast.
