HELLO
my xbox wont read games at all, not burned, not legit copies.
sometimes it wont read at all
sometimes it says play game, when i start it, it instantly says disc unreadable
sometimes it says reading game, but actually aint reading anything...

some few times it starts the game, legit foza 4 starts almost all the time, legit gta 5 is almost impossible to start and my newest game fifa 14 wont start and if it starts it says disc unreadable 10 min later..

TWO WEEKS AGO IT WORKED FINE

how can i fix this?
thank you

Now I'm not an expert on DVD drive flashing, but from friends having issues in the past like that it sounds like your laser could have an issue. Try reflashing back the original F/w and seeing if it reads the discs and if it still doesn't I believe its safe to say the laser is messing up.

Now for me, with the new dash it caused an issue with my DVD Drive. (I have an RGH)

Even know yours is not an RGH it still may work.

  • Put your disk in
  • Shutdown your Xbox (with the disk still in)
  • Turn your Xbox back on
  • your Xbox should load with the disk in
  • and it might work

There is a potentiometer that controls the power that is able to pass through to your DVD drives laser. This potentiometer can be read with a multimeter, and then the resistance lowered to allow more power to the laser and increase it's reading ability.

This is often referred to by modders as a "laser calibration" or a "pot tweak". If you've got a multimeter it's worth a shot.
