Are you looking to overclock? Is this a gaming build? Is there anything specific you'd like e.g. SSD a certain size, any particular CPU brand, Intel or AMD?

At that price, why not? Why get a motherboard that's not as good but more expensive? Also, the Z97 chipset will support the 5th gen Intel core CPU's so OP could easily upgrade to a 5th gen i5 or i7 and then overclock if wanted.

Yes. The motherboard you suggested was more expensive though. Also, it's better to have an overclock capable motherboard in case you ever do decide to OC. That way, you just need to change CPU and not CPU and mobo. It would save money later on, as well as the fact it saves him a little moiney right now as well. The Z97 also supports faster RAM, the H97 only supports RAM up to speeds of 1600MHz. The Z97 supports up to 3000MHz.
