So I have 2 options, buy the AMD FX6300 today for $99 or the 8350 for $180 next week, If I get the 6300 Now I can upgrade to my 8350 in December when I upgrade my work build or Buy a new 8350 if they are on sale. But all I want to know is Should I get the FX 6300, My MOBO in the build im doing will have an MSI 970 Gaming, This computer will be solely for research for work when at home, Mostly Gaming, and light photoshop editing and video editing. My current computer does it fine and its miles behind the 6300. But Im ordering within the next hour if I decide to and will be building this tomorrow.

But Im just looking for opinions, Currently all my work associates and friends are saying get the 6300 since Im mostly gaming (I have a 270x im putting in this by the way) But do you guys think I should do it?

*NOTE*: The CPU is the last part I need for my new gaming pc, I already own all the other parts. The MOBO supports AMD CPUS, Its the msi 970 gaming, Plus I use AMD for my personal builds and Intel for work, So I need recommendations between these 2 parts.

Im going to listen to Volk/Dovashin/Terrabytze and my Friend, I bought the FX-6300. I will figure out the rest later especially when I pick what intel cpu I want for my work build (Oh god IM dying already thinking about that choice). But I feel like I made the right choice and Whether I end up switching to an 8350 or buying a new 8350.

I'm unclear if you already have the motherboard or you will be getting it. If you don't have it, I don't find any reason on getting that motherboard and a FX8350 for $280 when you could get a 4460 and B85 motherboard for $236 and outperform the 8350 on most tasks. If you already have the motherboard, I would go for the FX-6300 since is a lot cheaper and the FX-8350 is not worth the extra price IMO. You could also get a cooler to overclock the CPU and get most of its performance in the meanwhile. (eg. I already have the motherboard, But if I buy the 6300 now since its only $99, In december I can take my 8350 out of my work build and move it over when I switch to an i7 for my work computer

Well thats still $50 more, But If I buy the 6300 now, Around christmas if I upgrade Ill just move the 8350 over for free, and my cousin said he would help get one for cheap if I want an extra one around black friday (He got me an i5 2 years back that I used for a while for work, and he got it for $75, and I could just buy through him again) But either way I just need to know Should I get the 6300 now and upgrade later, or wait to monday when I get more money in to buy the 8350/20

*Note*: Either way my old 8350 is coming out of my work computer in december and Its going somewhere.

The FX-6300 is great, especially when overclocked. But the choice is yours.
