Not at all (assuming we keep our civility throughout the years.) There is nothing good that can come from it. It could potentially lead to more crime throughout the year. If you don't think people would be looking for revenge when their loved ones get killed, you are sadly mistaken. Finding the killers and getting revenge would be happening throughout the year. You would also have to do major cleanups and repairs afterwards. The costs (from damages and deaths) of it wouldn't be worth it.

Personally Not, well in the way they describe it in the movies being that the Government is totally OK with it.

I could see it happening. If the u.s gets to over populated. Even though it's a very slim chance of the government allowing something like the purge too happen.

No, well not in our lifetime. Break outs and riots might happen but these so called 'purges' aren't purges as the government doesn't condone it, and never will. I find it scary that some people actually want it to happen, but I guess it's easier than ever to find future killers all you have to do is go on social media and bam, you see psychos.

No. It is clearly an artificial paradigm. Civil society would not last past the first purge. Think about it. The only people who would get killed would be the people who make the world a better place. Stock brokers would forge documents to put wealth in their own pockets. No politician would survive.
There would be people who cheat by killing people ahead of time and then using the chaos to hide the evidence. There would be people driving tanks destroying the city just because they can. There would be too much carnage to recover from.

No I doubt that could ever happen.

No it will not happen. And as if all the stuff in the purge would really happen like that slowly talking through glass and then saying he's going to find him in all they would just go and shoot him. And they would be busy trying to rob banks, shops etc not hunting people
