Alright so I remember playing a PS2 demo disc back in the day, and it had multiple games on it. One of the games was a fighting game that allowed you to freely get on and off horses for mounted combat, you could explore a battlefield or fight against AI's. Their were large groups of AI's that would fight against one another and you could jump in and fight as well. The little that I do remember about the game was that their was 4 or more playable characters/classes you could choose from and it was a sandbox medieval-knight combat game. It was third person, with lots of on screen AI.

If anybody knows the name of it, please let me know! It was one of my favorite games as a child and I never had the chance to play the full version of the game.

You can get it on 360 too!

but i used to love that game!

Yep, it was Dynasty Warriors 3 and it came out in 2001 on the PS2 #Classics
