Obviously, the best way would be to try and connect.

What do you and the other person have in common and what are each others interest?

Telling someone your there for them and actually being their for them are two different things. I suggest you be ready to go in depth in conversation.

I guess an all actuality I've never had been in sucha situation where I had to talk someone out of it. I hope I helped a little if it was not stated before.

The best thing you can do is simply remind them that you care about them (get his other friends to do it too, the more the better)

Depression causes a deep-rooted loneliness and you need to make time for them as often as you can

He's far less likely to attempt something in a public venue.

Bollocks to not getting the authorities.

Why would you not?

If you cared about someones life that much you would not put stipulations in place.

I will have had these thoughts before but I just could not leave my friends and family. My dad said there is no pride in killing yourself and its a perminent solution to a temprary problem. Take it how you want but it really isn't worth dying for because you only get one chance at life

Talk them out of it. Tell them how selfish they are for thinking of taking their life away from their family and friends and the people that need them the most. Tell them how special they are and how good of a person they are!
