After recently building a new PC, only to discover I was sold a faulty motherboard, I will need to remove the old thermal paste from the CPU once the new motherboard arrives, I've never had to remove it before and was wondering the safest option?
I've searched online and have had various answers, ranging from just "Kitchen towel" to q-tips with rubbing alcohol...
Any links to places I can order online(GBP) would be great too, if not, no worries.
Thanks.

Ive still got loads of [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] around.
It lasted for about 4 xbox's 3 times CPU cleaning & once a GPU. I've Still got half left.
I just leave the thermal remover on for about a minute or so, let it go to all of the area and wipe off with a tissue.
The purifier just makes it extra clean I suppose.
Side note: The thermal remover smells so good!

Honestly a paper towel will do the trick. You can use isopropyl alcohol if you want to but seriously, it's not necessary. I've used both methods and they both work fine. If you use a bare paper towel make sure its dry and just rub it hard. It'll work.
