Honestly, 24mbps fiber seems really slow. Fiber allows for so much faster speeds than regular cable for internet and 24 just seems plain low. But also you should consider the prices for each of these speeds, and look at reviews from people in your area, for example if they pay for the 30/5 but only receive around 20mbps, and people that get the fiber recieve the full 24mbps all the time.

So just consider the prices and look up reviews from your area.

Also, I would assume the cable would bottleneck, so you may end up getting the same speeds as the fiber anyway.

Ok thanks, Ill look into it, and the cable company also offers 60 mbps but theyre rated a 2.4 stars out of 5 so idk.

I would go with whatever is cheapest, faster internet does not necessarily mean that you won't lag. Your ping to the server determines lag. Just make sure the one you pick has at least 5mbs upload speed.

Not only that, but most ISPs send you really basic, crappy routers (also no, you don't need 5mbps upload, that's overkill.) If I had to choose between 30/5 cable with a bad router and 24/5/3 fiber with a decent router, I'd pick fiber. Bandwidth isn't everything, especially so with online gaming -- ping and latency are the two main factors you want to look out for. Higher ping and latency times = more input lag and unregistered actions (eg: bullets not killing someone, a button not being pressed, getting killed through a wall etc) Online gaming really doesn't take that much bandwidth at all, as long as you have at least 5 down / 1 up with decent connection, you should be fine. Even downloading on 24mb fiber will give you decent times, unless you're a heavy downloader or live in a household with a lot of other connected devices. And if you feel you don't have enough bandwidth to accommodate for your usage, you could always upgrade to a higher-tier package, I know U-verse (AT&T's internet) offers up to somewhere around 75/25 which would be more than enough for most people.

In terms of raw performance and connectivity (FTTN vs cable performance, not router), fiber beats cable. Price wise, fiber is more expensive than cable -- though usually it comes with more bandwidth than what cable offers, in this case -- you might just end up paying the same if not less than cable due to U-verse offering less bandwidth (which is strange.) Whatever you decide, keep in mind what you plan on using it for. Do you want fast downloading speeds to download large files or steam HD content, or are you favoring low ping and latency with a decent router with average speed?
