The Pentium G3258 stock beats an FX-6300 so overclocked, the G3258 is going to be a lot more powerful. An R9 270x does not belong in an $800 build. Should have an R9 280, at the very least. Intel is the better route to take at this time since they have much more and better upgrade options. Z97 chipset allows overclocking and upgradeability to an i7 if wanted. Node 804 is a pretty beautiful case if I'm honest. Then again OP, case choice is up to yourself since you have to look at it everyday. Just make sure you get something practical, as well as something that you find looks nice. Also, an $800 build without an SSD would be a bad idea. 128GB SSD is a good size for your OS installation. I have the same SSD in my primary PC and use it to boot my OS, then have a 2TB HDD for installing games and such. Although, for you, a 1TB HDD will suffice.

The i5 costs more. Pentium is dual core, whereas an i5 is quad core. Keep in mind, dual core will be fine for gaming. An i5 would probably perform a bit better/faster at stock but the Pentium G3258 can be overclocked pretty nicely.
