Completely this, watch a few videos/read guides on some champions you like the look of but you will only learn from playing.

Play noob champions to start of with, champions like Master Yi, Annie, Ashe, easy to play champions, i would play a lot of AI games first to get the hang of it. Also when your in a game type into google for the build of a champion (the ingame items you buy) for example if you play Master Yi you would type into google 'Master Yi build S4' cause it's season 4 of League of Legends (the items can change during a new season). If you can go 1 bot game without dying on the medium difficulty then i'd say you are ready to play online

I think I have covered most of the basics for league of legends but if you have any other further questions PM me and also if you are on EUW server feel free to add my IGN: Yagushi

That about sums it up. I if i had to suggest a starting champ i would suggest Garen because he is quite easy and cheap.

If you want to learn tips and tricks to help you out along the way watch professional streamers, not 5v5 teams but solo queue streamers also watch a streamer who plays the lane you play it will help you out.
