i think itunes does have to be up to date and it has to be open too and say that your idevice is connected

Your device is probably outdated, if you jailbroke it in the past then something probably went wrong.

You have to back up your device to your computer not iCloud then once that is done you should be able too jailbreak, also when you have to go to settings, you have to change the date & time to June 2nd

I've heard that if you do over the air updates. (Not updating your IOS through Itunes) Can cause problems jailbreaking. Create a backup of the files and restore it to that version using Itunes then run it. That might work. Good luck!
