Synopsis
Crazy Taxi is a series of score attack racing video games that was developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega. The first game appeared in arcades in 1999 and was very successful, prompting Sega to port the arcade version to their Dreamcast console in 2000. It was the fifth best-selling game on the Dreamcast, selling over a million copies.[1] The game was later ported to the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and PC with sequels also appearing on the Xbox, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation Portable systems.

Plot
The point of Crazy Taxi is simple yet so complex. You are a maniac of a taxi driver driving around a fictional city looking for people to pick up and take to their destination for a fare. The only thing is you have a time limit to do so, everytime you pick up a passenger your time gets extended by a certain amount; and the wild thing is you cannot continue from a previous part of the game you were already in. This is due to the fact that everytime you pick up a passenger that passenger is no longer available in the current game you're in, until the time runs out. There is no continue point after your time runs out, you must simply start a new round, which is why this game is so popular, or was so popular, in arcades.

Gameplay
So the main goal of Crazy Taxi, and literally the only thing you can do to play the game is pick up people in return for payment for taking them to their destinations. You start off with a certain amount of time and each time you pick up someone your time is extended, depending on the distance of their destination. You the player can use stunt moves such as drifts, jumps, near misses, and combos of the three, which earns you a tip from the passenger. If the passengers timer reaches zero they will jump out of the taxi, you will not get paid, and you will have wasted your time.
You can select a three, five, or ten minute setting, or Arcade Rules. Three minutes alotts you three minutes obviously and so on; Arcade rules starts you off with one minute only but with which you can extend by completing fares, passengers to their destinations. Only console versions of the game have a mode called Crazy Box which are various minigames
Crazy Taxi cities are fictional but are based on real cities such as, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Las Vegas. Some versions also include real world restaurants and is the biggest example of product placement I've seen in a video game.

Graphics
Before I say anything about the graphics please not that Crazy Taxi was really designed for an Arcade so the graphics really aren't the best but anyway. Crazy Taxi graphics are actually not that bad for it's time and what it was meant to be played on for. I really didn't notice any problems when I played it on a GameCube emulator, but of course there are going to be a few. The people especially are probably the worst thing about the graphics, they look like cartoon characters from hell, honestly. The car, or cars rather, themselves also looks like a piece of crap but what more can you ask for? The scenery also looks like cardboard but other then that that's just about it. The camera angles aren't too bad though, never loses sight of the taxi.

Controls
The controls are probably the best part about this game, aside from driving like a complete maniac. It'd be pretty irrational to say that the controls are "hard to figure out" because I picked them up in about two seconds even on an emulator. The taxi handles like a modern piece of art, and turning corners at top speed are not a problem at all. Everything is almost all used with the analog stick, accelerate is a trigger as well as brake, this is for a console. Also you can switch your gears but I didn't figure that out as I couldn't find a controls for PC.

My Rating: 8.7/10

This game was great!

But surely I can't be the only one who didn't actually pick people up, and just drove around instead?
