I'd also like to know the cheapest as I am getting ridiculous quotes for when I can start driving in December.

From the prices I've checked (And trust me, I have checked a hell of a lot of cars) the cheapest I've found is an 06-Present Fiat 500, or a 1996-2000 Ford KA.

Both cars I really really wouldn't get, but they were about 3-4k, which is cheap compared to many.

Just look for a 1.6 or less if possible to get cheaper, although it's not going to be a great car, it's cheap.

This really depends on many things such as Engine size, Car retail price etc...

If you could let me know what car you're looking at I could advise you how to reduce it...

like most people they get the Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L engine, its cheap (depending on mileage) and the insurance is cheap varying on insurance provider.

I am a relatively new driver.

I own a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 and I payed 1,100 pounds for that and I pay 160 pounds a month for insurance.

For your first car you will be wanting to look at a small tidy car. 1.2 preferably. Look at cars such as the Renualt Clio, Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Corsa, Polo, Ka, Golf etc etc. All suitable first cars which are the cheapest.
