I have around 8 grand I spend on a car. I want something practical that gets 20+mpg but sporty. AWD would be nice but not a must. Something fun to drive and very reliable. I've been looking at Scion TC, Celica, Lancer, Rx8, early model wrx. Any ideas on what I should get?

an rx8 will go through fuel man. Rotaries love to drink and you really have to take care of them. I also haven't heard many good things about the 13b renesis. Celica are not that great and lancer are pretty average as well. early wrx could be good.

I would go for the wrx as well. I have a 2011 wrx hatchback (5-spd) and usually i see around 26-27 mpg. If i drive it like an old lady I see 30. I would stay away from the celiac also.

Wrx will eat gas to. They average 20mpg and thats low rpm normal driving. Who owns something with a turbo and not WOT almost the whole time while driving? when your getting on it and hitting boost all the time your not gonna be very impressed. I have been having 180 miles on a tank of gas in my car. Being very spirited lately lol.

If you're lucky you might find a WRX for that price. Where I am they all go for $9,000+ but you might get a good deal.
Good Luck.

You can usually find 02s and 03s for around 3-6 grand 04s and up are always usually pretty pricey for a well taken care of one.

I doubt there will be an 03 WRX for 3-6. Unless it has 150k+ miles. If he finds one for 3-5k hes probably going to have to put 2-3 into the car.

You have to look. I bet you could easily find a stocker for around 3-6 my friend bought his highly modded 02 for 7500 and thats still in budget. Deals come up my friend. Gonna have to expect high mileage on a car that old. Sure you can find some people who kept them in a garage there whole life and only owner but your going to pay way over anything you would like to pay for the car.

Learn from my mistake, do not spend all of your money. I spent every single penny I had on the initial purchase of my truck, 3 weeks later caliper came off and I have a 300 dollar repair and no money to repair it. I'd spend about 5k if you have 8k to spend. Keep the other 3k for repairs / insurance / gas / maintenance, etc.
