This is the build I have so far: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
I already have one 2GB GTX 770 and the CX 750W PSU.
My questions are:
1. Would I get better performance out of two 2GB GTX 770s in SLI or one 3GB 780/Ti?
2. Would I need a PSU with more watts for the configuration I have?
Currently, I only have dual 1080p monitors and I don't see myself ever having 3+ monitors.

Also any comments/recommendations on the build are welcome.
I'm going for a maxed PC for gaming.
Thanks all.

The 750W PSU will be fine forSLI 770's or a single GTX 980. However, going with a single GTX970/GTX 980 may be a wiser choice. There's no need for an i7 and 16GB RAM. For gaming, an i5 and 8GB RAM will be more than enough. Absolutely no need to spend that much on a motherboard. Spending $75 on a 1TB HDD would be stoopid since you can get a 2TB for less. With the money saved, upgrade to a better PSU and CPU cooler.

Then for the GPU, it's entirely upto you. 2x GTX 770's pretty much match the performance of a single GTX 980, so same performance for less. I'd personally get the GTX 980, simply because it's more recent and is a single card, as opposed to 2 in SLI.

Forgot to mention, I'm also going to be going to college soon, where I'm getting a degree in Computer hardware/software Engineering. I'll be bringing this PC with me for whatever I plan to do in the future as well and hope to see it last me a long time (and be fully upgradable). Should I still downgrade on the CPU/motherboard?

Still cheaper, but with a better PSU and CPU cooler. You still have an i7 and 16GB RAM.

Thanks for the help. I see you've added a liquid CPU cooler, but I've seen some horror stories about some people's coolers leaking all over. Couldn't I stick with an NH-U12S for less and get similar performance? Or an NF-DH15?

That's all they are. Stories. You'll have no trouble with an AIO liquid CPU cooler. Granted, if someone tries a custom loop with no knowledge, they could have a leak, but you won't have a leak with the H100i.

A AIO cooler is very unlikely to leak, cases of leaking are from custom loops.

This willbe my first build, and again, wouldn't it be cheaper to go with a noctua?
Would it be difficult for a first timer to mount a liquid cooler?
And one more: do liquid cpu coolers help further with cooling the overall system? Like does it act as a rad, somewhat?

Liquid coolers typically keep temps lower. Although, a shawdy cheap AIO cooler will probably have higher temps than a great air cooler. The H100i will give you good temps for a reasonable price. It's not hard to install an AIO CPU cooler. With the NZXT H440, you have plenty of room for the 240mm rad.

Okay thanks for all your help. Does the Corsair H100i come with their own fans? And if they do, should I swap them out with two 140mm Noctuas for better performance?
