Ive never really understood why apple charges so much for their products. I believe its just like the beats product or Hollister clothing line. Everyone wants to say they own this or that. I watch my mom spend $18 on a plain white t shirt with Hollister's logo on it. I mean its crazy how much money we spend on these products and never realize it. It seems so amazing spending $200 on the new iPhone and thinking thats the real price of the phone which is stupid because the service cost is almost 2400 for two years if you pay 100 a month.

It's because they will know people will buy there product and make profit off of it since it is something new with new features and everyone has to have one.

$200 for labour and parts. Thats not including the millions they put into R&D and advertising. Although I agree it is a little on the pricy side it isn't much to worry about. I think they could probably go $100-150 either way and people wouldn't really notice too much.

Because everyone wants their phone to bend? Duh..

But on a serious note, it all really comes down to what a person wants to look like, either you can have a samsung and just look like a normal person, but when it comes down to the iPhone's people think if they have the latest iPhone they will be "Cooler" or something along them lines. And apple take full advantage of people, because not many people know that iPhones are really far from being the "Best" on the market. Even knowing reviews bump it up, and make it seem like it is.

This seems incredibly bias towards samsung and I own an s5. People don't buy iphones to look cooler, some people prefer the easier to use OS and the more reliable OS (much harder to get viruses. Partly because it is more limited). It also has to do with iphones being the first smart phone on the market and because people saw them as evolutionary they will be less inclined to try something new.

Why do brand name stores sell things for 10x the price? People by them. These shoes made by Nike,Adidas and etc, cost from $20-$40, and they sell them for $200-$300. Same thing with designer pocketbooks, dresses, and other products. Its all economics and marketing.

Because you're meant to buy it with a contract. Manufacturers usually make buying phones without a contract cost-prohibitive. Most flagship Android factory unlocked phones cost about this much, too.

There are a few manufacturers that break this model, like OnePlus with the One and Nexus 5 that are meant to be bought without a contract and are priced lower.

I recently just got the HTC One m8 and in total its going to cost 600 dollars. But I'm paying at least 30 dollars a month.
When you think of it that way its not so much.

But yeah the companies especially Apple can charge whatever amount they want and people will still buy them.
