This may be a stupid question but, is it possible to upgrade the ram and processor on this laptop? if so how?

If you're talking about the non-retina display models then yes. You just take off the bottom and switch out the ram, any laptop ram will do. If you are instead wondering about the Retina display model then no. Apple has taken to soldering the ram into place.

You cannot change the ram nor the hard drive/SSD in a macbook air.
It's all soldered directly to the board.
Edit:
Processor also cannot be changed.

ram = no its soldered
SSD = yes but it uses an apple proprietry connector similar to m.2
i have the haswell retina macbook pro 13 and the air 13 both have the same shape ssd
transcend do upgraded ssd for them up to 980gb i think.
