Synopsis
NBA 2K14 is a basketball video game that was developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Sports. It was released on October 1, 2013 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360; versions for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One were also released on the consoles' respective launch dates. LeBron James of the Miami Heat (currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers) became the cover athlete, and also served as the music curator for the game. 2K Sports also released the DLC pack that as a bonus for pre-ordering the game, they would receive 10,000 VC, bonus content for "Path to Greatness" mode, adding James in the Blacktop mode and a signature skill for MyCareer mode. On August 14, 2013, 2K Sports announced that Crew Mode would return to this year's installment of NBA 2K. NBA 2K14 is the successor to NBA 2K13 in the NBA 2K series.

Story 9.8/10
The only story mode to this game is the MyCareer mode. In this mode, you take on the role of an up and coming basketball player who gets an invite to the 2013 Rookie Showcase and a shot at the 2013 NBA Draft. Upon knowing this your player must take a personality test and interview with a few GM's that may be interested in your player based on your performance in the Showcase. You are then drafted, and start your career with whichever team you chose. You have the option to request a trade, after attaining a certain overall player score, if you choose not to be with the team that drafted you. Very rarely will a team trade you at random though.
There is another form of a story mode and is called MyGM. In this mode you get to play as a team of your choosing and also be the General Manager of that team. This means that you take orders from the direct owner of the team, you can make adjustments to the team as you please. You get to hire and fire staff from a CEO to a trainer. You must complete goals that keep your owner, team, and fans happy in order to keep a well playing team.

Gameplay 9.5/10
The overall game itself I thought was very good, so far the best installment in the NBA 2k series and am greatly looking forward to NBA 2k15. The game itself plays greatly comparing it to previous 2k's. Honestly this exceeded my expectations. I was unaware of the MyTeam mode until I actually played the game. This mode is basically an Ultimate Team for 2k. You start off with a normal pack of players just as any other UT would, but you can also use VC you have earned to purchase new packs. There's another form of currency called MyTeam points earned by playing games, winning earns you more. There are also a couple game modes in this as well to earn MyTeam points. There's Domination, which requires you to play each team from each division, starting from the worst teams in the division to the best. This allows you to get better with your team and also improve it as you play. Another version is the Road to the Playoffs where you play online against real peoples teams, and really this is a very hard game mode to play because most people have bought teams meaning they bought VC and have the best players but that also poses a very good challenge.
The teams are very accurate depictions of the 2013-2014 teams, but currently there are no more roster updates which kind of sucks, but 2k15 will be out very soon. Of course the Heat and the Spurs are the two best teams in the league which I think sucks but is again accurate because they were last seasons NBA Finalists and this years NBA Finalists as well.

Graphics 9/10
The graphics were actually very good, a lot better then other 2k's I've played in the past but when I first played this for the Xbox One I noticed a couple things. The players faces, are awful representations of what they actually are in real life. Cody Zeller looks exactly like a LEGO man's face. This is one thing 2k needs to improve on for 2k15. When in time-outs, 8 times out of 10 the players shirts will appear to be breathing, meaning they are constantly moving yet the players are standing perfectly still. That really bugged me. Other then that the ball movement, players juking, shooting, and dunking look very decent. The only other things that really bugged me were the net looks like it's underwater, but I think that's been the case for every NBA game out. And the fans are always looking like they're having a blast even if the home team is getting blown out 120-80, but again, that's been the same way for almost every sports game since it's creation.

Controls 7.5/10
The controls are iffy for me. Of course you can switch to classic controls which is what I play with, but sometimes you just never know when to release the ball when shooting. Although that really depends on the players shot, same with free throw, but who has the time to sit there and master EVERY player in the NBA's shot? Not me. The camera angles were kinda suckish, the only good angle to play with is the 2k angle which hovers a little bit behind the player with the ball and is always facing towards the net. To me, this basically ostrichizes the other camera angles, which I doubt anyone else ever uses the broadcast.
