*Puts on tinfoil hat*
I'm certain there is aliens out there. When you research this topic you will find some true, false, and exaggerated stories. I will admit that I think world leaders have come in contact with extraterrestrial life. Now if you think about it them keeping it a secret makes perfect sense. Sure it's wrong, but the government isn't a teenaged girl's Facebook. They aren't gonna tell you everything. It's for your safety. If the governments were to come out and announce contact with aliens they would be destroying religion and many other beliefs, I mean Tom cruise and the lot will be slapping fives and yelling scoreboard, but thats not the point. It would tear a hole in the fabric of human life. The basis of societys and cultures destroyed in an instant. This would cause mass chaos, suicides and economic collapse. Hell even the nuclear end of The world. The list goes on. It's all just to protect us.
if you want more information on aliens. Look into The Blue Planet Project. Its a supposed released government document giving all known information on aliens.

I'm almost certain there is some type of "Life" out there. We can't be the only ones.

There are other life forms out there...Some we won't even understand...
Look at it like this,

How do we treat ants? We see them and let them get on with it, there not that fascinating or great minded beings, we might just step on a few if we come across them

How would others beings look at Us?
We are the Ants

They are just not interested simple as, until we actually do something so big, then we might actuall come across one type of being....

MY OPINION

I'm not too sure about that.
Planets like Earth are obviously quite rare.
A myriad of materials and the correct conditions for life to not only form, but become hugely diverse and abundant, which haven't been found on any other planet that we know of.
I think there's quite a large difference between building an ant colony and colonizing an entire planet, especially a planet as 'special' as Earth is.
I'm willing to bet that even highly advanced aliens would recognize that difference too.

Unless, of course, Earth isn't that rare.

I wasn't stating anything about earth, or the materials or resources that are stored on the earth that might or might not be rare, i'm stating the likely chance how advanced other beings could be compared to us, you must of replied to the wrong person.....

You said they would look at us like we look at ants.
I'm saying that we are a species which has colonized an entire planet above every other species, and that because Earth is rare they would probably pay attention to that and recognize that we are intelligent beings, moreso than comparing us to ants.

Absolutely.
It's ignorant and extremely naive to think that we're the only living things in this world.

We can only hope that we're the ones making contact with them, cause if they are the ones who make contact with us, we're screwed.

well, lets put the shear size of the universe into perspective. it's forever expanding so far as we know and the creation of our world was by chance. but with a universe that is forever growing it would be thought possible that at some point through the vast number of galaxies that such a reaction could have occurred again or a few times, or a huge amount of times which our minds just wouldn't be able to comprehend.

by theory its actually more improbable that we are alone in the universe. there must be more intelligent life out there and our job as intellectual beings is to set our minds to it and
find out.

also the fact that the reaction must happen at the right place so the perfect mixture of heat from a star(sun) to keep things balanced and of course the features of the planet and what it must do to be able to maintain life on its surface.

sorry if I bored you with my long speech... XD
