A few days ago developers released a webkit exploit POC for the PS Vita running system firmware 2.60-3.18 which would allow developers to dump modules from memory to further analyze and find a way to crack the impressive system security. Now developers have found a similar exploit for the PS4 as well.

Before you guys get too excited, this exploit is going to be of no benefit to at least 99% of you. No this will not put CFW on your PS4, but it is an important step 1 to possibly get CFW at some point down the road. Similar to the Vita exploit this will allow people who know what they're doing to dump modules and their addresses from memory to analyse. If developers are interested though certain homebrews could be ported and run via ROP.

For those of you who want to check this out, all you need to do is open the PS4 browser and type in this URL:

You can also click on the link on any browser, but once you hit start you'll just get 4 error messages. This ONLY works on 1.76, any other firmware will give you a memory error.

As I said, 99% of you will have no idea what to do with these, but if you're like me you may want to check it out anyways for the hell of it. Nothing bad will happen to your PS4 should you decide to try this out.

Here are download links for all three of the released files if you wanted to host them on a server:
