Some get lucky with packs and that enables them to buy the big named players. To be honest in my personal opinion on FUT it doesn't bother me with the big players. I use a Silver Team, and that does me just fine it cost me 80k.

To answer your question, yes they either get lucky with packs, or they do small basic trading with some rare players worth around 1k and they build up. When they get enough, they can start trading with your 30k+ players and can make money quicker. And the market is consistently changing. For example, my friend bought a player for 170k, and then a week later sold him for 260k.

Keep working at it, but the big players aren't always the best for your team.
