On Xbox 360 controls, how do you use the boosts? Such as boost left, boost right, ground slam, slide

You press down the right analog stick and move in the direction you want to boost

You move the analog stick twice in the direction you want to boost to (after pressing it down).

This may be a weird question, but can you reload while running or does that require a perk?
