im at best buy and i asked for verbatim DL dvd+R 8.5 and all they have is memorex DL dvd+R 8.5

is that okay or do i need verbatim

They're the same thing except different brands.

Verbatim are the best when burning XDG3 disc's for me,I've never used Memorex.

Memorex will work but the disk quality is not as good so you may get bad burns or dirty disk errors when playing from a Memorex

As said above Memerox will work but they may fail more than Verbatim when burning XDG3 discs, for non XDG3 games they will be fine.
