I am going to be replacing my xbox 360 slim's disk drive and I was wondering if I had to put the same model disk drive back in or if I could use any slim disk drive.
Thanks

Yes it will have to be the same model, Also you will need to flash your original drives dvd key to it
(You cant just take the old one out and plug the new one in )

No, it has to be the same drive. If you're replacing a Lite-On, it has to be the same model Lite-On.
Also, the you will have to get your drive key from your original drive (the one you're replacing), and then put it into the new drive.

probably cheaper to replace the laser
or if you buy a new drive you need to desolder the original dvd drive board and install it on the new drive then you will be safe and not have to worry about flashing the new drive with the key or anything . or you can send to me and i will do it probably cheaper then you can do it and it will work

if it's RGH, you also replace the drive with a 3.5HDD. I've done it plenty of times, when i get a slim with a busted drive
