If your spending 200-250 pounds then you can get a fairly decent bike, but it won't be anything special.
I own a Carrera Vulcan, which you can get used ones for around 200-250, and it's a great bike. But if your only wanting a new bike, it's gonna cost around 300-400 for it.

For that price though, DON'T get an Appollo. Honestly, people get Appollo's because they're cheap. Look for something from either:
Carrera
Giant
Specialised
Orange (Doubt there's many for 250)
GT
Cannondale

Any of those makes are pretty decent, and well worth the money.
