A Shooter Detection System (SDS) - created with the help of the military and the first of its kind in the US has been installed in an undisclosed Massachusetts school. The sensor can detect the sound of a gunshot, immediately alerting authorities.
The SDS was installed for free as a pilot program, and had its first demonstration on Veterans Day. During a simulated exercise, a gunman entered the school with an assault rifle and opened fire using blank ammunition in the school library, in hallways and classrooms.
The shots triggered the smoke-alarm sized sensors installed in classrooms, hallways and other points in the building, which alerted police, calling for a coordinated response via radio. An audience of nearly 100, including US Rep Niki Tsongas and police chiefs from across the region, watched as circles pinpointed the shots on a floor plan projected in the schools auditorium.
The system includes an outdoor acoustic system and 50 to 60 smoke-detector-sized sensors installed in hallways, and classrooms with infrared cameras to detect muzzle flashes.
CEO Christian Connors told Reuters, "The system was the first of its kind in the country, and the company was talking to the federal government about its wider use. The system costs $20,000 to $100,000."
Other schools in California and Virginia, as well as an airport will soon install the system as well, said Connors.
Much better idea instead of banning guns.

This is great, but it might just make the shooters buy silencers for their guns [I'm assuming you can just buy silencers in America.]
Like you said, it's better than banning guns though.

Their will always be a problem in America with Guns banned/ Not Banned.
This however seems like an excellent solution, Just hopefully it saves Lives and proves it's worth

I remember watching an interview with someone from the company who designed these. I remember thinking it was a good idea. But potentially if someone has an App that sounds like a gun, could that not set the alarm off? There are some stupid immature people that would try for sure.

This will somewhat reduce the response time for police, but that's it. Tens of thousands of dollars could be saved by getting rid of the useless sensors and letting people report a shooter themselves. Ears are good at detecting gunshots, too.
Hire an armed police officer instead and there will be NO police response time. This is what actually matters.
The system costs $20,000 to $100,000.

True by the time the authority's are alerted there may already have been killings and that if you no what I mean

if they don't have guns they will use Knifes,axe and so on what then?? can that pick up those lol

Not all states allow the ownership of a silencer. But these do;
Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Like you said, it's better than banning guns though.
Silencers, along with automatic weapons, are only sold to those with a Federal Firearms License.
FFLs are much much much harder to get than the standard concealed carry or just the standard state ID it takes to buy a normal semi-auto.

I live in a poverty area of Pennsylvania and I can say that this is possible and will work we have a few officers here at the High School mainly because of student violence (weapons were brought to the school at one point) so they hired officers for situations like this such as a school shooting.
