Like you said, it's better than banning guns though.
I don't think people who would do such a thing care for silencers. The whole point of them doing it is to terrorize people, and silencing a gun wouldn't be as frightening as the normal sound to those people.

r00t wrote This will somewhat reduce the response time for police, but that's it. Tens of thousands of dollars could be saved by getting rid of the useless sensors and letting people report a shooter themselves. Ears are good at detecting gunshots, too.
The system costs $20,000 to $100,000.
Hire an armed police officer instead and there will be NO police response time. This is what actually matters.
That's quite a stupid idea really, say the armed police officer was killed silently and placed in a store room, or a cupboard, the killer is then liable to do what ever the heck he wants :/

Imaginary "what if" scenarios are not arguments. What if the building's power was cut? What if the network lines were cut? What if?

Not all states allow the ownership of a silencer. But these do;
Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
I swear that's basically every state anyway? (Not from USA, UK )
